Short Biography

You've probably been the strong one for as long as you can remember. Maybe you grew up in a household where feelings weren't talked about, or you're the first in your family to even consider therapy. Either way, you've been carrying a lot and you're tired of just pushing through it. I'm Sophia, a Vietnamese American LCSW and trauma therapist in the Bay Area. I work with Asian American and BIPOC individuals who are ready to go deeper, heal old wounds, and build a life that actually feels like theirs. In our work together we use approaches like EMDR, Brainspotting, and somatic therapy to help you heal at the root, not just manage the symptoms. CA telehealth and in-person in Santa Clara.

Therapy Philosophy

My Approach to Therapy I believe that real healing goes deeper than managing symptoms or learning coping strategies. The goal isn't just to feel a little better. It's to understand what has been driving the pain in the first place and actually change it at the root. That means looking holistically at the whole person. Your history, your culture, your family, your body, and the patterns that have quietly shaped how you move through the world. Nothing about you exists in isolation, and therapy shouldn't treat it that way. Your cultural identity and lived experience aren't just context. They are central to who you are. You shouldn't have to spend your sessions educating your therapist or downplaying experiences that have genuinely shaped you. This is a space where all of that is already understood and honored. Healing isn't just something that happens in your mind either. Trauma, stress, and pain live in the body too. That's why I bring somatic and body-based approaches into our work alongside more traditional methods. When your mind and body are working together, that's when real and lasting change becomes possible. And I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. You are not a diagnosis or a checklist. Our work together will be shaped around your story, your pace, and what actually matters to you.
