Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

Gender Identity: male

Short Biography

My name is Jeff Goodman and I am a cisgender biracial Filipino and Caucasian male therapist with 23 years of post master's degree experience in the mental health field. I am married and have two children, a young adult and a teenager. I moved to San Diego in 1997 to attend SDSU and have lived here (mostly) ever since. I love music as a coping strategy for life balance and look forward to partnering with you to find your life balance.

Therapy Philosophy

My personal belief about therapy is that healing happens in relationships rather than through a specific theory or intervention. Much of the time, problems arise in relationship to other people or things, not by themselves so it makes sense to find and practice solutions in a therapeutic relationship with someone like me. Gaining new insight combined with action can be just what is needed to help you feel unstuck.

Special Training & Certifications

I have worked in a variety of mental health settings including school districts, county department of behavioral health, probation, child welfare, private practice and non profit organizations. I am trained in school based mental health, community based wraparound modality, trauma focused CBT, Motivational Interviewing and Solution Focused Brief Therapy and completed the community based block (CBB) master's program at San Diego State University with an emphasis in cultural counseling before earning my master's in counseling, MFT.
