BIPOC IdentifyingMFT
Gender Identity: female
Short Biography
I specialize in helping women and nonbinary folks recognize & amplify inner resources to recover from trauma, anxiety, and distress while attending to the important relationships in their lives. Drawing on the wisdom of neuroscience and best practices from psychotherapy and spiritual counseling, my integrative approach aims to reduce suffering and increase resilience.
Therapy Philosophy
My relational approach to therapy is to help you change your relationship to suffering by holding yourself and your experiences with kindness and increasing your awareness of the choices in your life. When we work together, I am most interested in what you want from therapy and how our connection can help you uncover and fulfill these important needs. In other words, we want to bring whatever is currently unconscious or at the edge of your consciousness into the full light of consciousness so you can have a more intimate and mindful relationship with yourself and others. This takes time and compassionate intention as we build trust, get to the root of things, and look deeply at relational patterns in and out of therapy, working together toward freedom from conditioning. What you will notice right from our initial correspondence is that I have a warm personality and care about what is happening in your life. In addition to my in-depth study and expertise in psychotherapy, I am a down-to-earth and compassionate companion in helping you change your relationship to suffering.
Special Training & Certifications
I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Women’s Studies with a concentration in Art and Psychology from Knox College, a Master’s Degree in Integral Counseling Psychology from California Institute of Integral Studies, and a Certification in Hypnotherapy (Spiritual Counseling emphasis) from The Foundation of the Sacred Stream. I am also certified by Tara Brach and Jack Kornfield for teaching Mindfulness Meditation. I have training and certificates in shamanism, energy healing, astrology, grief and bereavement, women’s spirituality, self-compassion, radical acceptance, mindfulness, meditation, ecopsychology, and permaculture. Since 2000, I have been exploring and integrating timeless wisdom from the world’s spiritual and religious traditions. I was raised Catholic, have explored and enjoyed many spiritual paths, and have appreciation for all paths and no path. I have been a devotee of Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi (Amma) since 2003 and Mother Meera since 2009 and am engaged in the teachings and practices of Sanatana Dharma (Hinduism) and Buddhism while maintaining a deep connection with the earth. My more recent boon of discovering Sri Mooji in 2014 and Thich Nhat Hanh in 2020 continues to unfold as a profound experience of the Timeless Loving Presence within.
